One smooth LCD

Okay, you have an important decision to make: if you had to choose, would you rather enjoy seamlessly smooth video when watching sports, or when watching your favorite action movie? Just kidding, it’s a trick question — with its Motionflow&trade 240Hz technology, the Sony BRAVIA KDL52XBR7 lets you have both. Motionflow 240Hz technology quadruples the frame rate employed by most HDTVs for fluid, natural motion when watching sports, and accommodates the 24fps rate at which movies are filmed (24 x 10 = 2400), meaning that this 52″ BRAVIA LCD panel is able to deliver your favorite high-action movie scenes just as you first saw them in the theater. Oh, and don’t forget, a full HD 1080p resolution is the ideal complement to high definition Blu-ray Disc media and Playstation 3 content.

This engine runs on Ones and Zeros

Sure, you already know that the KDL52XBR7’s full HD 1080p LCD screen enhances your home video experience by displaying 1920 x 1080p images — the highest resolution available — thereby also making it a perfect match for taking full advantage of Blu-ray Disc and PlayStation content. But do you know why? Video performance is a function of more than resolution: video processing is a key element, and when it comes to processing, the KDL52XBR7 uses nothing less than an engine. Sony’s BRAVIA™ Engine™ 2 PRO; technology is a fully digital video processor that employs a collection of unique algorithms to significantly reduce video “noise” and produce sharp, vibrant, lifelike images through which a 1080p-resolution panel reaches its full potential.

Film, from start to finish

Way out west in Tinseltown, your favorite films are recorded at 24 frames per second. Unfortunately, most television content is recorded at 30fps, so most televisions are designed to display motion pictures at this speed. Until now, the solution has been to interpolate, or add, artificial scenes into 24fps content in order to “stretch” it to fit a TV’s 30fps capability. Recent demands on the part of movie lovers for an authentic home-cinema experience have lead to technological advancements making a 24fps experience possible at home. High definition video like that recorded onto Blu-ray Disc contains 24p (or, progressive-scan 24fps video content) that brings true film into your home. But wait! There’s still one more piece the puzzle. While true 24fps film makes it from Hollywood to your Blu-ray player, just like a movie-house feature film, it needs a screen to be enjoyed . . . i.e. your flat panel needs to be able to display 24p content. Enter the KDL52XBR7 with 24p True Cinema. This technology is fully capable of displaying 24fps video thanks to specific video processing that reproduces film-based images as video content. Start popping the popcorn.

Not of the culinary variety — noise reduction

Distortion and variance caused by interference from other electronic components are inherent characteristics of any electronic signal. Such minor disturbances in a signal’s integrity can result in flaws in the signal’s output — like a video image on an HDTV — and these flaws are often referred to simply as “noise”. Not wanting you to endure a less-than-perfect HD video image on your new KDL52XBR7, Sony designed this LCD with Dynamic Noise Reduction. This technology intelligently identifies and dramatically reduces signal noise according to the motion and brightness of each scene for clearer, crisper images, frame after frame.

A smattering of interactivity

There are a few more words that can be added to the list describing the KDL52XBR7, like expandable, interactive, and experiential. First, Sony’s Xross Media Bar user interface — enhanced by Rich Graphics — offers easy and fast icon-based navigation of all your KDL52XBR7’s functions. Second, Sony’s Digital Media Extender (DMex) offers system expandability via a digital connection: add optional modules, like the BRAVIA Internet Video Link, or upcoming modules for optimal future compatibility. Finally, an integrated TV Guide™ on-screen interactive program guide delivers continually updated program listings so that you never miss your favorite shows.

Contrast — Advanced and enhanced

Your flat panel HDTV and a poorly lit alley are not the same thing. “Well, duh”, you might say, but we’re serious. Whereas, with good reason, you might not want to see what’s lurking in a dark alley’s shadows, when it comes to watching video on your HDTV, you do want to be able to see every detail (hence, high definition), even in dark or shadowy scenes. Using real-time image processing to dynamically adjust backlight levels, the KDL52XBR7’s Advanced Contrast Enhancer reproduces improved contrast for deep blacks in darker scenes and fine detail in shadows, revealing all the details that the director intended for you to see. Now, if the movie you’re watching has a scene with a poorly lit alley . . .

Ah, BRAVIA®

As a leader in products with HDMI connectivity, Sony has created BRAVIA® Theatre Sync&trade technology to go beyond simple audio and video transmission. When you combine your new KDL52XBR7 with a select number of other BRAVIA audio and video products, control functions will also be transmitted via the HDMI cable. With “One Touch Play”, operations that took several steps are reduced to one. Press the PLAY button on the remote, watch the audio and/or the video component(s) turn on then the BRAVIA KDL52XBR7 television will turn on and switch to the correct video input…Simple…Easy…BRAVIA Theatre Sync.

ENERGY STAR of approval

Seeking to meet your demand to reduce energy use and preserve the environment, Sony has made sure that the KDL52XBR7 meets the U.S. government’s standard for ENERGY STAR— qualification. What does the ENERGY STAR qualification mean? ENERGY STAR is a government-backed program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energy efficiency. For the family or homeowner, energy efficient choices can reduce energy consumption and expenses by up to one third while resulting in similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort. ENERGY STAR helps you make the energy efficient choice. When a product boasts the ENERGY STAR qualification, this means the product meets stringent government standards set by the EPA and US Department of Energy for conserving both energy and the environment. So whether you are concerned for the environment, your pocket book or both, this HDTV helps ensure both are given an easier load to bear.

HDMIncredible

Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Sony’s KDL52XBR7 features four HDMI connections. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.)

panasonic viera th-46pz800u

The beautiful Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ800U Plasma HDTV is a beautiful, affordable and all-around superb HDTV that will blow your high-definition-loving mind.

The 1920 x 1080 resolution TV has an unbelievable 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, and if that sounds a bit too high — as if, perhaps, it’s so high in contrast that it could actually make your eyes bleed — fear not, it just makes everything look fantastic. Gone are washed out colors — everything is crisp and highly visible, films will simply pop from the screen and it’s simply a joy to behold. Aside from that, the HDTV also has 4096 shades of gradation and a GalleryPlayer which lets you play HD art and photography right on the TV.

The quality is simply superb and the price for what you’re getting is fantastic. Not long ago, TVs of this caliber were $2,000, even $3,000 — perhaps it’s a sign of new technology evolving, or perhaps it’s the sheer amount of HDTVs on the market, or maybe it’s our slowly dying economy — whatever it is, the time to buy a great HDTV is now and the Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ800U is one of the best.

Things That Make It Special:

1. 1920 x 1080 resolution.
2. 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast 3. Viera Link HDAVI Control lets you operate all home theater components with a single button.
4. GalleryPlayer lets you play HD art and photography on the TV.

Pioneer’s pandemic passion

If anyone passionately believes in HDTV, it’s Pioneer. They rave about their televisions the way new parents glow over a new baby. Just listen to them talk about the world their plasmas create: “It’s a world built on uncompromising attention to detail in an extraordinary, beautiful new way. Where black levels are so black, they disappear into an infinite abyss. Where colors are so pure, they gush with their own emotions. Where emotions are built with feelings so deep. . .tears fall like lead, fear flows like wildfire and passions swell with the rising tide. It’s a world so intense, so rich, so real, it will change the way you look at TV forever.” That sounds like the enraptured ranting of Love, doesn’t it? We think you’ll feel much the same way.

Pioneer’s world takes you away

Leave your work-a-day life for a moment. Forget the confusion of the dirty dishes, the crumpled laundry, the dog’s recently consumed tennis ball. Instead, enter a world dedicated to the pursuit of pristine vision and flawless sound. A place where you can sit down any time of day and the television will automatically compensate for the amount of light in the room. Where an unbelievably smooth and accurate 60Hz Smooth Film Motion Mode will sync perfectly with incoming movies, eliminating judder. A land filled with gorgeous upscaling up to 1080p, making even your dullest videos shine in new ways. And, a world where streaming HD movies, music and digital photos from a networked PC to your TV are so effortless they become part of your everyday life, thanks to the Home Media Gallery feature. The yardwork, gas prices and dirty diapers will seem to disappear beside the glory of yourElite® KURO PRO111FD. . . . And you will be happy to immerse yourself in the fever-like vision of Pioneer.

Entertainment dream

Sports. Movies. Sitcoms. Yes, even reality shows. They all look phenomenally great on this 50″ widescreen, high definition plasma TV. And for good reason — the PRO111FD is crammed with the latest in technology that’s more than up to handling today’s (and tomorrow’s) many exciting audio/video formats. This set has all the connections you need to hook up just about anything — DVD player, VCR, satellite receiver, TiVo unit, even your computer. A new cell structure with an improved crystal emissive layer was redesigned for a more intense black with added detail, while a new filter delivers enhanced contrast in bright environments. ASIC video processing and scaling gives you the ultimate in Standard-Definition and High-Definition video performance. Detachable side speakers with integrated digital amplifiers offer improved clarity and accuracy of sound.

A rich experience

The PRO110FD delivers the ultimate in entertainment. Optimum Video Mode with an optical light sensor gives automated adjustment of picture in both varying light conditions and by program content such as movies, news, sports, etc. A Room Light Sensor reads the amount of light in your room, so the PRO111FD can adjust to suit the conditions. Fully integrated ATSC and Dual NTSC tuners with built-in CableCARD slot let you peruse your favorite channels without having to hook up an external tuner box. There’s even a Home Media Gallery that allows you to create your own multi-media experience.

Advanced 60Hz PureCinema means less math!

Film doesn’t translate directly to a format that a TV can process. To display film on television, usually 6 frames per second (fps) must be added to the film’s original 24 fps to equal 30 fps, the video format. Called 3:2 pulldown, this interpolation process improves NTSC reproduction of film-based material, but generates uneven motion known as judder. Pioneer developed Advanced Pure Cinema to eliminate judder. This exclusive technology enables 3:3 pulldown, which synchronizes perfectly the frame rate of film and eliminates the need for interpolations. Now, your film-based material on DVD, videotape, and regular TV will match the smooth, natural reproduction of film.

Many modes to mold your movies

These days, entertainment comes in many forms, and the PRO111FD is here to help you enjoy each form to its fullest. A/V Selection Memory gives you nine options for viewing preferences: optimum, performance, movie, sports, PURE, game, standard, ISF-day, ISF-night, ISF auto. Picture Detail settings include DRE Picture (off, high, mid, low), Black Level (off/on), ACL (off/on), Enhance Mode (1, 2, 3) and Gamma (1, 2, 3). The PRO111FD includes 3 color temperature adjustments, 3 digital noise reduction settings, block noise reduction and mosquito noise reduction, among other adjustments that give you just the picture you’re looking for.

Deep encased cell structure

Pioneer’s deep encased cell structure means that each individual pixel in the PRO111FD’s display is encased in its own cell, with walls on all sides so that light doesn’t bleed into neighboring cells. This energy-efficient design allows each pixel to deliver a more concentrated beam of light, for truer colors and brighter images. The clear front suface of the PRO111FD’s display is actually a precisely manufactured optical-grade, non-glass color filter bonded directly to the plasma panel. This filter increases the spectrum of light emitted by the plasma, for a fuller range of colors and exceptional color accuracy compared to front filters made of glass. It’s also much lighter than a glass filter and increases contrast by limiting ambient light reflections in bright viewing environments.

A commitment to vision

Pioneer engineers don’t just make a TV. They brainstorm, they argue, they collaborate, and they break down every roadblock until they have engineered a high-definition plasma panel that they, themselves, would actually be proud to own. And then they go back to the drawing board, and make it better. Why is all of this important to you? Because when you bring a Pioneer product into your home — whether it’s a high-definition plasma, DVD player, A/V receiver, or speakers — you can be sure that the people who made it care as much about a great entertainment experience as you do. Maybe even more. Their commitment to quality is evident throughout their manufacturing process: with their five production lines in three cities worldwide and numerous patents, their commitment to innovation shows in the substantial R&D engineering resources they have dedicated to being the world leader in new plasma display technology.

Don’t forget the cables!

If you are using an HD DVD player, a receiver, or anything else that is capable of sending a high definition signal, don’t forget to purchase the right cables. Many people don’t realize what a significant difference the right cables make, and when they get their new high definition equipment home, they think the equipment itself is to blame when the picture isn’t as good as it should be. This is because most components (HD-DVD, Blu-ray, receivers, etc) don’t come with cables, so people often use whatever they have around the house, or buy cheap cables, thinking “it will do.” Another reason people don’t buy the right cables is because trying to figure out which cables you need can be daunting, and it?s hard to know where to start. Our sales representatives are there to explain all your options, so you can make the best purchase and get the most out of your new PRO-111FD.

Oh, the sound!

Be prepared to think about your HDTV’s audio in a whole new way. Many “other” HDTVs usually feature a built-in 2-way, 2-channel speaker system so that you can at least hear the audio that accompanies your video picture. Mitsubishi’s LT52149, on the other hand, gives you the opportunity to experience your HDTV’s audio thanks to a 16-speaker, 5.1-channel built-in audio speaker. Mounted along the bottom edge of the LT52149’s bezel, the integrated soundbar delivers an encompassing 5-channel surround sound effect by employing 16 individual 2W drivers. The advanced design and directivity patterns of this speaker arrangement let you experience a surround sound home theater without additional obtrusive speakers and cables. Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic processing fuel this impressive, innovative HDTV audio system, whose low-frequency reproduction you can easily enhance by using the built-in variable subwoofer preout to hook up your powered subwoofer. The complete HDTV experience — 1080p LCD video and 5.1-channel audio.

Who likes digital cable?!

Not only does the LT 52149 sport a combined analog and digital tuner, making it easy to enjoy programming from both analog and digital sources, this Mitsubishi HDTV features a built-in CableCARD™ slot. All that you have to do to begin viewing digital-cable programming (besides subscribe to digital cable) is insert a cable card. Darn. That’s easy. Oh, and integrated TV Guide Daily® lets you browse for your favorite shows.

The need for speed

Okay, tell us if this sounds familiar. It’s Monday night, and you and all your buddies are gathered around your old flat panel HDTV watching the football game, when the running back breaks away full-tilt down the field toward the end zone. Someone in your living room shouts: “Wow, look at that! That guy’s running so fast his legs are a blur!” “Yeah, that’s incredible”, you reply. With your old flat panel, you just couldn’t bring yourself to admit that the blurring of the running back’s legs was the result of your HDTV’s slow panel response time and not of the athlete’s prowess. Light-hold devices like DLP, LCD, and plasma HDTVs all have some degree of motion blurring in fast-moving images or videos. Some just have way less blur — presenting the LT-52149 LCD from Mitsubishi. Designed with Smooth 120HZ™ technology, this LCD panel displays more fluid and natural fast-moving images using a super-fast 120Hz panel response time. Now you and your friends will be catching all of the action, whether you’re cheering your favorite sports teams on in the big game or watching your favorite action flicks. Additionally, an UltraThin Frame™ design minimizes the size of the bezel so that your LT-52149 becomes a window onto the world of HD.

Not just 1080p, true 1080p

Sure, the LT52149 LCD flat panel from Mitsubishi offers full HD 1080p, delivering the highest pixel resolution (1920 x 1080) and most advanced image scanning (progressive scan) available. But, what’s more, this 52″ LCD takes two major additional steps toward assuring that you get the most out of so much high definition merriment. Step One: Tru1080p™ processing. This technology guarantees that all 1080p content — whether from Blu-ray Disc (HDMI), online content (IEEE 3194), or satellite (1080p broadcast) — is passed through with absolutely no down-conversion of the resolution. You enjoy a full and true HD video experience. Step Two: Plush1080p™. Because some HD content is formatted at 720p or 1080i, this source material needs to be reformatted to fit your new 1080p screen. Plush1080p performs a precise, accurate conversion of 720p and 1080i content so that it shows up with rich, clear detail on your LT52149.

Fact: you just can’t have too much color

If you thought Technicolor was out of this world, you might want to sit down for this. The LT 52149 is capable of displaying . . . billions of colors. What’s more, special features designed into the LT 52149 give you the control to customize these colors for optimal, lifelike video reproduction. Okay, now, what’s this business about billions of colors? Well, the tag team of x.v.Color and Deep Color allows the LT 52149’s screen to display such a large number of colors by expanding the supported color gamut (the work of x.v.Color) and by broadening the color spectrum used to represent the graphical image data being sent to your screen (thank you, Deep Color). Further, Deep Color allows for smooth transitions between color shades, thus eliminating color banding and other visual artifacts for a sharper, more lifelike image. Additionally, a 6-color processor enhances the LT 52149’s color capacity by producing brighter colors, a wider range of colors, and whiter whites. Finally, giving you the control to customize the image you see, the LT52149 offers PerfectColor™. A full color matrix, this technology lets you adjust the intensity of six separate colors independently of each other and separately for each of the TV’s inputs. You get the color you want for all your video sources.

Less “noise” means better video

The LT52149’s exclusive 4D Video Noise Reduction uses advanced algorithms to better identify video noise from fine detail and correct the signal rather than distort it. Video noise is caused by distortions in the video signal that make the picture look grainy or snowy. As signal resolutions improve with the introduction of DVD, digital cable/ satellite and HDTV, the loss of sharpness produced by most noise reduction circuits becomes more noticeable. Mitsubishi’s advanced 4D Video Noise Reduction corrects the image in four dimensions: horizontally, vertically, within each frame, and across multiple frames to provide an image that is crystal clear and extraordinarily detailed.

An HDTV for all occasions

Because you don’t plan on using your new high definition LT-52149 to enjoy just one type of video, and because you might find yourself watching it at various times of day, Mitsubishi has designed this LCD with 4 video modes, letting you customize the TV’s performance. Choose between Gaming Mode and Natural Mode when switching between graphical video game images and live-action movies and television programs. If you’re sitting down to a matinee, use Brilliant and Bright modes to optimize panel performance in situations with high ambient light.

Now that’s a digital photo

Thanks to a front USB port, you can connect a USB thumb drive or USB Card Reader to the LT52149 and use the 52″ screen as a giant photo album.

Easy setup?!! Hooray!

If there is any single thing that’s daunting about getting a new home theater system, it’s the setup. Well, good thing you’re beginning with the LT52149 from Mitsubishi. With ClearThought® EasyConnect™, setup and day-to-day use is simplified. During setup, this feature recognizes each input as it is plugged in, prompts you to name it, enters it into the Device Memory, and only displays inputs in use. Later navigation of your system will be a cinch.

HDMIncredible

Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Mitsubishi’s LT52149 features four HDMI connections.

Reel-ly cool

As long as the television has been bringing your favorite movies from the big screen into your home there has been a discrepancy between motion of the moving image on film and the way that that same image is replayed on the television. With the introduction of the P50V702 Ultravision Plasma HDTV, and the revolutionary film processing system known as Reel60, Hitachi breaks through the chains of 50 years of a film-to-TV mismatch, letting you experience a true in-home theater experience for the first time. How does Reel60 work? Well, movies provide the illusion of motion by showing a series of still images over time (at a rate of 24 frames-per-second, in fact). However, this rate does not match that used by television systems, which show 60 frames-per-second. In the past, TV manufacturers would compensate for this by displaying one frame three times, the next frame twice, the third frame three times, and the fourth twice, ad infinitum. This often resulted in jerky, unrealistic motion. Reel60 compensates for the difference by using the original source footage to create interpolated frames, resulting in a much smoother, more lifelike picture for your viewing enjoyment.

Child’s play you say? Not at two million pixels

Clarity. Quality. Sharpness. It’s all in the details, and this high definition plasma TV is no exception. The P50V702 offers a mind-bogglingly clear, high-quality, and sharp image with the inclusion of Full HD 1080p resolution. And there is no shortage of detail here. Close-ups are closer and panoramic shots more vast and pristine in your favorite blockbuster with the P50V702’s 2.07 million individual picture elements creating a superbly intricate color video mosaic.

A ClearWindow Into The Ultimate Video Experience

Tired of thinking that you are seeing every line and emotion on your favorite actor’s face, only to realize that what you’re really seeing is a grainy picture? Fret no longer! The P50V702 includes Hitachi’s ClearWindow Plasma Technology, providing cleaner and smoother image reproduction, higher brightness, and reduced visible grid structure on-screen.

Just can’t say ‘no’ to inputs

Thanks to its PictureMaster HD IV digital video processor, you have the ability to integrate the P50V702 into your existing video system regardless of the type of input or resolution format you are receiving. The PictureMaster processor matches its Full HD 1080p panel by upgrading all incoming signals, thus optimizing the picture performance of that source material. In addition, the P50V702’s two component video inputs accommodate a broad range of high-end analog input sources, including cable and satellite receivers, DVD players, VCRs, and video games. The PictureMaster also includes MPEG noise reduction, dynamic contrast, dynamic histogram processing, automatic 3:2 film enhancement, four HD aspect modes, and six SD aspect modes.

Vroom, vroom!

The three HDMI SimplayHD (HDMI-CEC) 1080p compatible inputs included in the P50V702 give it the highest quality connection and connectability with home A/V devices. Multiple high-end digital interfaces that are 1080p compatible and include high definition video and audio in a single cable connection mean that this plasma TV will fit right in with the rest of your system, and given the rest of its impressive list of features, will soon be the leader of the pack.

281 trillion colors . . . yeah, they’re in there

The P50V702 doesn’t like to brag about the ridiculously gigantic plethora of colors it offers, and, lucky for it, with a 16 bit, 281 trillion color capacity, it doesn’t have to say anything. 281 trillion colors? Impossible, you say? Not so! The P50V702’s sixteen bit processing increases the number of steps to over 65,000 per color for the smoothest and most film-like image possible, ultimately resulting in that gargantuan color capacity. And to maximize the spectacle of all those colors across the screen, the P50V702 provides a wide range of aspect modes so that you can expand the image to the widescreen format while minimizing visual distortion and eliminating the black bars that may be visible on the top or bottom, or even on the sides, of the screen

It’s ALIVE!

Suggesting a distant family link to the table fan, the P50V702 sports a motorized power swivel stand that rotates the screen up to 30 degrees to the left or right, optimizing the home entertainment experience. Unfortunately, unlike with the table fan, the closest you’ll come to cooling off in the summer with the P50V702 is by staying in and watching a holiday flick on fifty inches of plasma bliss.

An HDMI cable carries not only digital video and audio signals, but control signals too. Roy G. Biv has left the building

x.v. Color extended gamut video color spacing is the new standard for high definition color. Roy G. Biv, the old mnemonic device for the hues in the visible spectrum (red/orange/yellow/green/blue/indigo/violet) just doesn’t cut it anymore. With x.v. Color, you see 1.8 times more reds, greens, and blues than with the standard RGB video color spacing. Working together with x.v. Color, Deep Color (30/36/48-bit color depths) gives you more vivid and accurate colors with fewer artifacts. Display of x.v. Color and Deep Color video signals is made possible by HDMI v1.3 (thank you very much).

Share your photo gallery

The best images you can ever view on a Panasonic plasma don’t have anything to do with HDTV. Share your own JPEG photos taken with an SD Memory Card-compatible digital camera on the TH58PZ800U through the set’s SD card slot. Simply insert the SD card, which is about the size of a postage stamp, into the SD slot on the TV and enjoy a photo slideshow. Panasonic also includes with this set GalleryPlayer, which allows you to enjoy the world’s finest high definition art and photography on your HD plasma TV. Use the free GalleryPlayer software to purchase and download the images you like, and then play them on your Panasonic HDTV right from your PC. Sign-up is easy and free. Plus, you get a free collection of high definition images to enjoy right away in your home or office.

Getting movies right on video

Panasonic’s 24p Playback (2:3) and 24p Cinematic Playback achieve exceptionally faithful movie reproduction through a sophisticated analog-to-digital conversion. Movies on film are converted to NTSC interlaced video (480i) for television by a process known as telecine conversion, in which the 24 frame-per-second film is converted to video at 60 fields per second. The fields are then paired to create 30-frame-per-second 480i video. Some of the frames will contain dissimilar pairs of fields derived from two different frames of the original film, which causes artifacts. 24p Playback converts 480i video to 480p while restoring the original frames of the film for a more authentic movie reproduction. This widescreen TV features a width-to-height ratio similar to movie theater screens, providing a theater-like experience at home.

Choose what your kids view

The V-Chip allows users to block programming that may be inappropriate for certain viewers. Using program ratings embedded in TV broadcasts, the V-Chip lets parents decide the programming to which their children have access. Blocked program material is accessible only by entering a 4-digit code that parents create.

PC input

Rather than having friends and family crowd around your 13″ laptop screen to view videos or cool internet sites, just plug your laptop into your new 50″ plasma complete with a PC input. If you have a presentation to make beyond the YouTube world, the TH58PZ800U serves as the perfect assistant with its PC-friendly capabilities.

Superb sound

Incredibly slim and elegant, you’d never guess that the TH58PZ800U includes an integrated 31-watt, four speaker audio system for maximum stereo separation. But just wait until you turn it on and crank it up. BBE ViVA HD3D Sound creates an authentic and exciting surround sound effect from only the two stereo speakers on each side while preserving the clarity and definition. This expansive audio provides a fitting complement to the incredible picture quality of Panasonic’s plasma TV.

Not your plain jane kinda look

Trademark looks and actions stick around for a reason. There’s Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech to Prince doing the splits in tight purple pants . . . the examples go on and on. In the TV realm, LG has added to the trademark tradition with the LG60 series. All of these TVs feature an elegant red and black design that extends across the back of the chassis, kinda like a classy scarf (come on, use your imagination . . . ). Then there’s the brilliant 1920x1080p high definition images. A high contrast ratio, 24p Real Cinema mode, and an AV mode (which automatically tailors its settings for movies, sports, or games), make this LCD HDTV an all around extraordinary addition to your home.

Connections in SO many ways

Your 52LG60 serves as a versatile hub for all of your external components, like your Blu-ray player, DVD player, mp3 player, TiVo, DVD player and more. Four HDMI V1.3 inputs with Deep Color mean that the images look real. And HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. No cable mess with this baby. Also HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. Video isn’t the only kind of entertainment your 52LG60 specializes in — use the USB 2.0 input to view JPEG images or peruse your MP3 music files.

Beyond high definition

With over two million pixels to form every nuance of color and motion on your screen, you’ll see details you’ve never seen before. The 1920 x 1080p native resolution in the 52LG60 is as good as resolution gets. Plus, with LG’s proprietary Intelligent Sensor, your picture will automatically adjust itself, ensuring that it looks great in all viewing conditions (including those with excessive ambient light).

Air is invisible — so are your speakers

LG has figured out a sneaky way to make your 52LG60 speakers invisible. Something the pretty black bezel appreciates, because now it gets more attention. But where’d the speakers go? LG integrated them into the perimeter of the bezel while at the same time doing away with the traditional speaker drivers and grills. Looks — and sounds — scrumptious.

AV and Expert mode

Like choosing different sound effects on your stereo like opera hall, bar, or concert, your 52LG60 gives you image options that enhance whatever you’re watching. AV Mode optimizes the picture into Cinema Mode, Sports Mode, and Game Mode. And Expert Mode has been certificated by the ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) picture quality calibration institution, making it possible to finely tune the picture at a professional level. The result is a dynamic HDTV that is adaptable to many different modes and settings.

Settle for nothing less — the experience of film at home

Here’s a little secret: television and film were not created equal. Film is shot at 24 frames per second. And just about every movie disc you can buy is encoded at that speed. But television programming runs at 30 frames per second, and most TVs conform to that standard. When you watch a DVD on your TV, fitting that 24-frame content onto a 30-frame screen isn’t a seamless process. You can’t divide 24 by 30 evenly so video engineers fill in the gaps by placing one frame on the screen three times and the next one after that two times, which can cause stutter and other visual artifacts. Alternatively, 120Hz image processing shows 120 frames per second, showing each film frame five times and each TV frame four times, allowing TVs to reproduce unconverted, evenly extrapolated 24 fps movie and 30 fps television programming. Toshiba’s ClearFrame™ 120Hz technology teams up with the 42XV545U’s 10-bit LCD panel, built-in PixelPure® 4G 14-bit digital video processing, and Motion Vector Frame Interpolation technology to bring a smooth, clear, film-like video experience into your home theater.

It’s a bird . . . It’s a plane . . .

No! It’s Super Resolution Technology™! Toshiba’s new REGZA 42XV545U LCD panel delivers such an advanced video image, you want to be able to enjoy all 1920x 1080 pixels of its HD resolution, no matter the source of your video content. SRT Super Resolution Technology upconverts and enhances 480i, 480p, and 720p input signals for an improved and more detailed picture. Now you can experience all your favorite DVDs and TV channels in near-HD picture quality.

Now, how about that panel?

Speaking of the 42XV545U’s powerful video performance, as a part of Toshiba’s REGZA line of HDTVs, this LCD sports a variety of design features and innovations that deliver nothing short of an impacting home theater video experience. First, a 1080p panel resolution offers not only the highest video resolution currently available (1920 x 1080) but also offers progressive scanning for smoother, more natural motion images. Second, PixelPure® 4G 14-bit internal digital video processing fuels your video experience with fast, accurate video processing that keeps pace with your favorite fast-action scenes. Third, the DynaLight™ dynamic backlight control — delivering enhanced black levels for sharp, lifelike detail — teams up with a ColorBurst™ wide color gamut, ColorMaster™ color control, color-temperature control, and Deep Color support for a range of colors and clarity of detail that are startlingly vivid and real. Finally, because this REGZA HDTV features a Cinespeed™ LCD panel, you know you’re getting a super-fast panel-response time (8ms or less) and a wide viewing angle that deliver a stunning picture to everyone in your viewing area, no matter where they’re sitting.

AutoView™ . . . a custom view

As you go about deciding which flat panel HDTV technology is best for you — LCD or plasma — an important factor to take into consideration is the level of ambient light in your viewing area. If your home theater area has higher levels of natural or artificial ambient light, and LCD flat panel will deliver the best viewing experience, as compared to plasma. However, as you know, ambient light changes throughout the day, and if you’re watching a movie in the late afternoon or evening, light conditions might change dramatically even while you’re watching. If only your LCD panel could adapt its performance for optimal viewing in any conditions. Discover the 42XV545U with AutoView™. This innovative technology uses an external light sensor to monitor ambient light levels. Then, AutoView technology automatically adjusts various picture-quality settings based on both the level of ambient room lighting and the type of video content you’re watching for a customized viewing experience.

The other half of home theater

High definition home theater is a huge part of the modern home theater experience, but it’s only part of that experience. So, what’s the other part? Audio. The 42XV545U’s SoundStrip® speaker system uses a thin-line speaker design with enhanced dynamic range to deliver big home theater sound without big, obtrusive home theater speakers. Additionally, a StableSound® feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuation while changing channels.

Rediscover widescreen DVD video

The Toshiba 42XV545U’s 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and HD 1080p resolution are great for watching high definition video content, but what about your DVDs? All DVD video has a 720 x 480 resolution, and most DVDs can be purchase in a standard or widescreen format. You of course, being a reputable videophile, purchased your entire DVD library in widescreen so as to enjoy the entire picture as the director intended. That, however, was when movie night was hosted on your old tube TV. Now that you’ve got the HD 42XV545U . . . what’s to guarantee that your DVDs will look just as good on your new flat panel? The answer: Toshiba’s TheaterView®. This technology allows the 42XV545U’s panel to display enhanced widescreen television and DVD video. Three different modes adjust and optimize DVD video based on different recording and formatting methods for a truly theater-like home DVD experience.

A side of PC, please

Coming to the rescue in this multiple-component, integrated-system world, the Toshiba 42XV545U serves up an extra helping of connectivity with a PC input. Surf the net, download online movies, play games or get a little work done, all on 42 inches of stunning HD LCD.

Get tuned in

Geared up and ready for the up-and-coming digital transition (the government mandated switch to all-digital television broadcasting) your new Toshiba 42XV545U comes equipped with digital ATSC and QAM tuners. These digital tuners make receiving and enjoying digitally broadcast content — whether from the air or from cable or satellite — easy and worry-free.

HDMI: Advanced connectivity

Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Toshiba’s 42XV545U features four HDMI connections.
